Osteopathy is a holistic practice that aims to enhance the body’s natural healing abilities. Recognizing how each part of the body affects you as a whole, osteopaths use gentle movements of the muscles and other tissues to naturally reduce pain, swelling, strains, sprains, and other imbalances. Our goal is to restore your body to a state of balance and health so you can return to the activities that matter to you.
Stephen Lobsinger(B.Sc., D.O.M.P.), our osteopath in Guelph, has over fifteen years’ expertise studying the human body. He specializes in helping patients recover post-surgical procedures, and his breadth of experience includes treating concussions, low back pain, headaches, TMJ, and frozen shoulder.

“Osteopathy is the knowledge of the structure, relation and function of each part of the human body applied to the correction of whatever interferes with its harmonious operation.”
– George V. Webster, D.O., 1921
What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is considered a natural medicine which aims to restore the functions of the body by treating the main cause of imbalances and pain. An Osteopathic Manual Practitioner (OMP) restores, maintains, improves and integrates the inter-related structures, systems and processes in order to improve the natural healing abilities of the body. With the use of methodical assessments and treatment plans, the OMP uses specific techniques to gently remove constrictions and restrictions within the body's tissues to reduce pain, swelling, strains, sprains and imbalances etc. in order to bring the body back into a state of balance and health.
The philosophy of Osteopathy is based on four basic principles:
1 - Each structure in the body supports the body’s functions.
2 - The natural flow of the body’s fluids – lymphatic, vascular and neurological – must be preserved and maintained.
3 - The human body is the sum of its parts. Its physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and cognitive systems don’t work independently - they work in harmony.
4 - When the body has no restrictions, it has the inherent ability to heal itself.
